FAQ's

Who can come?

Almost anyone can come to Word of Life Camp. Campers should be active members of their church and attend services regularly. If you have any questions, please call us.

Why can't we bring any music?

We do not allow any music, gaming or other electronic devices for a specific reason. In our regular lives we get caught up with things and get too busy to hear the voice of God. When we come to camp, we purposefully leave these things at home so that by the end of the camp it is just us and God, and we can listen to His voice.

How much does it cost?

Usually, there is no fee to attend. Instead, we give food lists to the campers. This fosters a more family-like atmosphere. However, if you are travelling some distance to camp and would prefer to just make a donation to cover the cost of food, contact us for more info.

Where do we sleep, and eat and use the bathroom?

Our camp is truly camping. Campers sleep in tents, which they bring. If you don't have a tent, but still would like to come, let us know and we can make arrangements for you. All the cooking is done over a campfire and grill and eaten under the Big Top or around the campfire. Last year we doubled our latrine facilities - now we have separate men's and women's latrines! No more lines!

What are some of the camp rules?

We do not have page after page of rules, but we do have a chain of authority. The top person at camp is Pastor Phil. If there are any questions, problems or decisions, Pastor Phil is the final word. Other camp rules are simple: stay in the campground at all times, obey the leaders, respect others, no electronic devices, refrain from complaining or whining, and go to sleep after the "lights out" call. At the beginning of camp everything will be explained.

When is the deadline to hand in my application to come to camp?

We need to have every application in by June 25, 2010, so that we can finalize our plans and prepare for the number of people coming. If you are not a member of Word of Life Fellowship in Weston, WV, please send your application to us as soon as possible so that we can contact your pastor. If you would like to come and it is after June 25, please contact us immediately and we will work with you to help you come.

If there are any questions that you have that we didn't answer, please send an email to wvpastorphil@aol.com and we will do our best to answer as quickly as possible.

Word of Life Camp Administrator or his agent may contact the pastor of attendees to discuss granting permission to attend Camp. It is to me understood that attending Word of Life Camp is a privilege, not a right. Word of Life Camp Administration maintains the absolute right to grant or deny permission to attend said camp. Furthermore, if after Camper has arrived, permission to remain at Camp can be revoked. Word of Life Camp does not guarantee or provide transportation to and from Camp. It is the Parent/Guardian responsibility to provide timely transport to and from Camp location. Additionally, if Camper needs to leave the camp for any reason, it is the Parent/Guardian responsibility to transport Camper. It is understood that there are numerous inherent risks associated with camping and therefore, the Parent/Guardian must sign a release form for each child or the child will not be able to attend Camp. Camping is a rustic and primitive way of life and certain children and adults may not be able to participate in Camp activities; therefore, please take this into consideration before Camp. While Campers are on grounds, they must agree to abide by certain behavioral and general organizational rules of order. Breaking of the rules will be handled in an age appropriate manner and if disruptive behavior continues, Camper will be required to leave camp under Parent/Guardian supervision.
